CoTESOL 2020: Building a Multilingual Future

CoTESOL's first-ever virtual Fall Member Symposium will feature professional development for all members of the CoTESOL community.

Presentations include:

  • Livneh & Stauffer - Creating Instructional Videos that Promote Effective Learning
  • Grant, Yoo, Fetman, & Garza - Teachers’ Perceptions on Preparedness to Teach ELs
  • Shur - Facebook Narratives in EFL Writing Instruction (20-min teaching tip)
  • Min - Critical Thinking Pedagogy for ESL Writing
  • Stauffer - Building Community in Synchronous Online Classrooms
  • Walcott - Multimodal Environments for Development of Academic Writing
  • Cooney & Fischer - Purposeful Planning for Equity in Math
  • Viney - Role of Task Complexity in Student Interaction
  • Randolph - Observation Journals: Appreciating Life Through Writing

Prior to these academic presentations, we encourage you to attend our annual business meeting and awards presentation from 9:00-9:45 a.m. 

After the presentations, you are invited to join your colleagues for a networking lunch/happy hour at 12:00-1:00 p.m. led by the Special Interest Group Co-Chairs!

Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education Hours:

Some of the presentations are aligned to the CLDE standards and support the attainment of the 45 hours of CLDE professional development required for Colorado Department of Education teacher license renewal.  By choosing to attend CLDE-designated presentations, attendees can earn a maximum of 1.5 hours of CLDE PD credit.   Participants will receive a certificate upon completing the Member Symposium and a copy of the CDE CLDE Teacher Matrix prefilled with the training alignment.
