PROVIDING SUPPORT AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR EDUCATORS

Professional Development Events

CoTESOL sponsors many events throughout the year with the goal of providing professional development and networking opportunities for our members.

Our largest annual event is the 2-day Fall Convention that usually takes place in November in the Denver metro area.  We also organize a smaller Spring Conference at various locations across the state of Colorado.  In 2020, we pivoted to offering a variety of virtual events due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

CoTESOL conventions regularly attract hundreds of attendees from all levels of ESL (i.e. K-12, adult ed, intensive English programs, higher ed, workplace ed, literacy, etc.).  In addition to Colorado, many attendees come from neighboring states and around the country.  CoTESOL events are an ideal place for first-time presenters because of the welcoming atmosphere and hospitable environment.

Many of CoTESOL’s events are aligned to the Colorado Department of Education's Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Education Standards and support the attainment of the 45 hours of CLDE professional development required for CDE teacher licensure.  Participants receive a certificate upon completion of the event and a copy of the CDE CLDE Teacher Matrix prefilled with the training alignment.

CoTESOL 2021 Spring Symposium:

Colorado Voices

The CoTESOL Board is excited to continue offering creative, informative, engaging, and yet safe ways to support our professional community in 2021.

We invite English language educators from across Colorado and beyond to attend our next virtual symposium on April 24, 2021.  The event will begin at 8 AM (MDT) with an opening keynote speech from Dr. Jennifer Trujillo.  Dr. Trujillo has worked as a bilingual multicultural educator for 25 years serving in English learner education--ranging from classroom teacher to ELL/Bilingual Director to college professor to author.  She is currently the Dean of the School of Education at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado.  From 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM (MDT), there will be 20 breakout sessions to choose from.  View the complete program!

Registration for the 2021 CoTESOL Spring Symposium is now open!  The cost is $30 for CoTESOL members, and non-members can join to access the member rate.

Please check back for more details as they become available, and follow us on Facebook and Twitter to see the latest announcements.

Thank you to our 2020-2021 sponsors:
