PROVIDING SUPPORT AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR EDUCATORS

Professional Development Events

CoTESOL sponsors many events throughout the year with the goal of providing professional development and networking opportunities for our members.

Our largest annual event is the 2-day Fall Convention that usually takes place in November in the Denver metro area.  We also organize a smaller Spring Conference at various locations across the state of Colorado.  In 2020, we pivoted to offering a variety of virtual events due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

CoTESOL conventions regularly attract hundreds of attendees from all levels of ESL (i.e. K-12, adult ed, intensive English programs, higher ed, workplace ed, literacy, etc.).  In addition to Colorado, many attendees come from neighboring states and around the country.  CoTESOL events are an ideal place for first-time presenters because of the welcoming atmosphere and hospitable environment.

Many of CoTESOL’s events are aligned to the Colorado Department of Education's Culturally & Linguistically Diverse Education Standards and support the attainment of the 45 hours of CLDE professional development required for CDE teacher licensure.  Participants receive a certificate upon completion of the event and a copy of the CDE CLDE Teacher Matrix prefilled with the training alignment.

2021 CoTESOL Summer CLDE Institute

The CoTESOL Board is excited to continue offering creative, informative, engaging, and yet safe ways to support our professional community in 2021.

We invite K-12 educators from across Colorado to attend the 2021 CoTESOL Summer CLDE Institute on June 21 - July 2, 2021.  The event will combine synchronous and asynchronous online instruction on Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM.  Participants who complete the 45-hour PD program will be issued a single CDE-approved certificate and the CDE Teacher Matrix aligned to CLD Standards to submit with their license renewal application. Completion of all 10 sessions will equal the 45-hours required by CDE.

Registration is open until 6/16 and space is limited!  The cost is $199 for CoTESOL members, and non-members can join to access the member rate.

Please check back for details about the 44th Annual Fall Convention on November 5-6, 2021.  Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for the latest information!
